Our Areas of Concentration:  Habitat issues in the Cabinet Mountains, the Yaak region, and the Clark Fork drainage in western Montana, and the Lake Pend Orielle area in Idaho.

Thirty-tree Years of Cooperation and Alliance:  Reading our detailed history, the cooperation and alliance with other similarly concerned organizations has been vital in our campaigns to protect the natural resources in our geographical areas of concern.  We are pleased to list the following organizations in our links.

Brief History of CRG

Cabinet Resource Group (CRG) was formed in 1976 when people concerned with the fate of the Kootenai River, the Scotchman's
Peak proposed wilderness, the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness, and the Yaak Valley came together to fight for protection of these natural resources. Since then, members of CRG have participated in countless struggles to preserve wild places and promote sensible management of our National Forest Lands.

Since the 1970s, when the U.S. Forest Service carried out extensive evaluations of lands suitable for wilderness, this rugged, scenic and biologically diverse portion of the Cabinet Mountains has been managed for its wilderness potential. The Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness believe now is the time to preserve the Scotchmans, one of the last, and largest, wild areas in our region.

Vital Ground Vital Ground
http://www.vitalground.org/main.php

Operating as a land trust, the mission of The Vital Ground Foundation is to protect and restore North America's grizzly bear populations by conserving wildlife habitat. While preserving the areas where grizzlies roam is the focus of Vital Ground, the positive impact of our work goes well beyond saving a single species. Because the grizzly's range covers several hundred square miles−from alpine meadows to valley bottoms−protecting grizzly habitat benefits entire plant and animal communities in the wildest, most scenic places left on the continent.
